“Good Local Adapt” is the name of an initiative driven by a committee of three companies, a technological center and three town councils, in each of the basque provinces.
The project was developed, in the time gap between september 2017 and september 2021, woking with specific solution for city planning, building restoration and the new regulation to adapt to the climate change in small and medium sized municipalities.
This project was developed thanks to the financial assistant of LIFE+, the financing instrument for environmental purposes of the European Commission, and it was allocated inside the sphere of adaptation to the climate change of the Call LIFE 2016.

Global warming, also known as climate change, is the increase observed in the scale of the century at the average temperature of the Earth's climate system and its related effects.
Design solutions to adapt to the climate change towards heat waves and to achieve a better use of water in Amurrio, Balmaseda and Legazpi. Provide the small and medium sized municipalities with a prioritisation of adaptation solutions accepted by the citizens and with environmental, social and economical benefits.

On the 27th of June, the regional event on the LIFE Good Local Adapt project took place in Bilbao, which aimed to share the results of the project in the field of adaptation to climate change, and to know how to guarantee transferability and replicability in other municipalities.
In the municipality of Balmaseda, work was carried out in the public space and the buildings of the demonstrative district of the Historic District.
