LIFE GLA Diffusion Event
During the 24th and 25th of April, partners of the LIFE-Good Local Adapt project held a transference day in the Diputación de Granada. Environmental technicians and mayors of 7 municipalities participated on this day, to whom the objectives and tools used for LIFE Project were presented. In these two days, special emphasis was placed on participatory processes to involve citizens, climate risks that most affect them, and the most adaptive solutions that are being proposed to alleviate these effects together with the tools to prioritize the best options depending on the municipality .
The municipalities of Granada which, among other climate risks, are suffering the effects of the increase of the temperature and the change in the precipitation patterns, showed special interest in water management solutions and green infrastructure to mitigate periods of drought and possible flood damage. By the end of the transference day, all participants agreed on the need to start with urban adaptation before the consequences of climate change are accentuated. Although there are currently many examples of adaptive solutions, it has been clearly reflected the importance of raising awareness among the public and public administrations themselves in order to implement these measures in a satisfactory manner.
